Our Origin
In 2011, on California’s sunny West Coast, two visionaries, Kin and Winkey, united at a mountain biking event. Kin, a mechanical engineer and cycling enthusiast, dreamed of creating powerful riding equipment. Winkey, an expert in sports medicine, focused on human health and movement. Together, they shared a passion for cycling, quality living, and environmental protection. Inspired by California’s thriving beach cycling culture, they created Addmotor’s first fat-tire folding electric bike. Designed to conquer soft sand and escape LA traffic, it combined Kin’s mechanical expertise with Winkey’s ergonomic precision. The result was a portable, easy-to-use bike that embodied freedom and exploration. Addmotor stands for “adding power to life,” offering a lifestyle of adventure and harmony with nature.
Born Out of Care
In 2015, Kin and Winkey heard a story that struck a chord. An elderly rider,John with 76 years old, who had relied on his bike for joy and freedom, could no longer ride and explore his outdoor life due to physical limitations.
Faced with this loss, John’s family struggled to find a solution. Existing options was limited, designs were outdated, or didn’t meet his needs. For Kin and Winkey, this was a call to action—they refused to let freedom and happiness slip away for those who loved cycling. Determined to make a difference, they set out to design the perfect electric trikes (E-Trikes) designed for stability, comfort, and accessibility. One that wasn’t just functional, but transformative, giving people of all abilities a way to reclaim their independence and joy.
